Have questions about volunteering with Friendship Circle? Here are answers to some of the most common questions volunteers ask when getting started.

Who can volunteer?

Friendship Circle welcomes teen and adult volunteers who are interested in making a difference and building meaningful friendships within our community.

Do I need experience working with individuals with special needs?

No. Friendship Circle is about friendship. Volunteers are not expected to provide medical care or specialized support. We encourage volunteers to be themselves, have fun, and build meaningful connections with participants.

How often do I need to volunteer?

Volunteer opportunities vary throughout the year. Some volunteers participate monthly, while others help at camps, special events, or other programs as their schedules allow.

Volunteers who contribute approximately 20 hours or more during the year are eligible for our Fellowship Award. Many volunteers reach this milestone by consistently participating in a single program, such as Sunday Circle, Friends at Home, or camp.

Can I earn community service hours?

Yes. Many Friendship Circle volunteer opportunities qualify for community service hours. We are happy to provide documentation for school requirements, NHS, scholarships, and other service programs.

Can I volunteer with a friend?

Absolutely. Many volunteers become involved alongside friends, classmates, siblings, and family members. Volunteering together is a great way to make a difference while sharing a meaningful experience.

What volunteer opportunities are available?

Volunteers can get involved through Sunday Circle, Friends at Home, camps, holiday programs, special events, young adult programs, and community initiatives. Opportunities vary throughout the year and are available for both teens and adults.

Are there opportunities for adults to volunteer?

Yes. Adults play an important role in the Friendship Circle community. Opportunities may include assisting with programs and events, supporting community outreach, helping with special projects, serving on committees, or sharing professional skills and expertise in areas such as art, music, sports, fitness, therapy, and more.

How do I become a volunteer?

Getting started is easy. Teens can complete our Teen Volunteer Application, and adults can complete our Adult Volunteer Interest Form. A member of our team will then contact you to discuss opportunities and help you find the role that is the best fit.
